DREAMBOX-Dream boxes in the implementation of smart card communication

In the use of digital dream box to watch digital TV programs, in order to meet the needs of different users, to ensure that the interests of each user, the conditional access system management needs of the user's rights and to ensure that the user's normal viewing. In the dream boxes, usually using the conditional access smart card technology.

Smart card has its own microprocessor, memory and a communication interface with the dream box. Conditional access smart cards to achieve the following advantages: it has a high degree of security and confidentiality, mainly used to store the user's private key, the control authority, security algorithms and other information, can guarantee the security of the digital television system.

This article focuses on smart cards and dream box communication. The main chip dream boxes are generally available to communicate with the smart card interface, use the appropriate hardware and communication protocol; you can achieve normal communication between them. In this paper, dream box chip using Set’s Sti5516. As Sti5516 provided a smart card interface requires an external interface chip to communicate with the smart card, it also uses the Philips company TDA8004T chip.
Commissioning Experience

(1) Write UART driver smart card interface, the T = 0 protocol must be in accordance with the standard operating frequency, data transmission baud rate and data format;

(2) Ensure that the correct answer to reset the card after the card can communicate with the dream boxes;

(3) The transmission of the command header is generally a certain order, in the testing process, the need to send commands in the order header to the normal reception of data;

(4) To determine bytes and conditions of the physical form of the process, be sure described according to Figure 4, consider carefully, comprehensively, in order to avoid communication errors.

Most smart card support for the T = 0 protocol, this paper describes the T = 0 protocol based on dream box and smart card communication. On this basis, can be achieved after the T = 1 protocol based communications to support more of the smart card.
